the only way i can see you could is if you take each individual piece off but that would be really time comsuming provided it could be done. Your best bet would be to see if you can find someone who has an engine hoist you can borrow or for sale, perhaps try Craigslist, you can find many things there and even barter if you need to, sometimes you may get lucky enought to find one for free but a hoist......... I doubt that. or you could go rent one at a rental place, it would cost but at least you have the hole thing up on the hoist which makes it mutch easier to work on. The hoist is the best way to go for removing a transmission. good luck.
Unfortunately, you have to remove the transmission.
If you are talking about an automatic transmission, it is under the removable pan at the bottom of the trans. Drain the oil and remove the pan, you'll see. Mr Geo Metro leehduncan@verizon.net
The engine and transmission of a manual 3 cylinder weighs 135lbs.
if the engines that they came off of are the same it should work
yes and the transmission too is recomended..... These trans are not so reliable and if there's lower miles on the 2000 you should swap out the entire rig
On engine casing, passenger's side, on flange that bolts to transmission. Probably covered with engine gunk.
Yes it is. Any Metro transmission made after the year 1994 will fit in your 98 Metro.
Remove the transmission dipstick and insert a funnel into the metal tube. Be careful you don't over fill though.
No, a 91 metro transmission will not fit in a 98. A 91 will fit any metro between 1988 - 1996 though. After 1996 a lot of Metro's became 4 Cylinder which made them different from the previous generation metros. It may fit if the engine sizes are correct (1.0 litre 3 cylinder to the same but do not mix and match).
Yes you can. All Geo Metro engines are compatible from 1989 - 1997. Just make sure that they both have the same transmission or you'll have to do a lengthy and expensive conversion.
Yes, but your final gear ratios will be different. This URL discusses changing the transmission from a 1.3 into a 1.0 for a Suzuki Swift (the Metro is a re-badged Swift). The process should be the same in a Metro. www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?t=26466
how do you check transmission fluid level in a 2001 chevy metro
