lower the deck all the way down. at the rear of the deck you will see a plastic wingnut on either side. remove blades using vice grips to loosen the bolt. you will needto use a shop rag with your free hand to hold the blade in place so you dont cut yourself. next remove wingnuts in rear. there is a bar in the front-most part of the deck held in place with a cotterpin. remove pin to remove bar. depending on your model of mower, that should be it. if not look at the deck frame for any other nuts or bolts.
Remove the spindle guards. With a 1/4 drive ratchet, pull the belt tension arm back and release the tension spring. This will allow you to remove the belt. Lower the deck to the lowest position. On the rear deck mounts on both sides is a pin holding the deck to the frame, with a tensioning spring on it. Lift the deck with a pry bar or long screw driver and pull back on the pin and it will release the deck. Do one side at a time.Simple. Then the front can just be lifted out of the bracket holding the front of the deck. You'll have to loosen the nuts all the way out to the end of the threads on the front mount to reattach. Turn the wheels all the way to the left and slide the deck out on the discharge side.Remember you drop the deck rear first, then the front and reattach the same way. Remember to check the air in your tires and have the mower on a level spot before re=leveling the deck.
The manual pretending to be for the LA145 (which is really a useless hodge-podge of all the 100 series with misleading pictures and instructions) is a travesty. This website has no pictures, and like the manual, doesn't distinguish between left and right, but at least its instructions look like they were written by an American!

Also, I was on the phone with Karen, a supervisor in publications, who is trying to get my complaints heard. If you have anything to add about the "quality" of the manual, you'll find here very cooperative: 800-522-7448.
Pull the spring loaded pins on each side of the deck. Slide the mower deck forward off of the front pins. Lift the deck lift up and pull the deck from under the mower. Remove the belt from the engine pulley. Grab the handle on the front of the mule drive to release it from the tractor. Pull the entire mule drive forward from the tractor. You are done.
reinstalling after blade exchange
I changed the blade belt on my Murray mower. Now one blade stops and goes. If I lower the deck the blade stop . What did I do wrong?
How do you remove the deck from the cub cadet lt1046 mower? The instructions do not say how to remove the cable and springs that are attached to the deck.
There is a yellow wire under the seat on my 14.5 HP Murray 42'' deck mower, and plug it in or don't that's where all killswitches are on a Murray lawnmower and pretty sure they still are today.
It depends on the mower. Some you will need to remove the deck. Some you will have to remove the deck mounting brackets. Others will change without removing anything. For detailed info please ask again with the make and model of the mower.
most likely 2, look underneath
84 inch
That depends on what state you are in. I'm in FL and have a 42" for sale
Look for a 3/8 drain plug underneath the deck (where the blade is) Loosen. Drain. If no plug is there, remove the oil dip stick and turn the mower on the side until all the oil is out.
First Loosen the belt tension by disengaging the drive lever. Remove the belt from the lower drive pulley On the front axle there is a bracket that has a long rod with a quick pin through one end of the shaft. Remove it and then remove the rod from the bracket. This releases the front of the mower deck. Then look on both side of the mower deck and you will find four flat metal pieces (2 on each side) with a hole at the top and each one will have a quick fastener connector to the stud on the chassis. Pull these quick disconnects and lift the deck slightly where you can pull the shaft off of the metal stud. Do the same for both sides and then pull the deck out from under the riding lawnmower. You need to put a block under the the deck when you lower it to keep from it putting a lot of pressure on the other side. It will make it easier to lower the deck.
The belt is too loose. Replace it or adjust the idler.
I have Murray 42" cut riding mower that the belt came off. How do I put the belt back on?
