Just finished doing that chore on the same model. I went and rented a Chrysler balancer puller from Auto-Zone for only a $60.00 deposit, which will be returned in full upon return. "Free"
A regular 3-jaw puller will not be strong enough in a size that will fit, and it must push from the back of the hole where the balancer bolt goes.
This is one job where the proper tool is required given the clearance involved.
The deposit fee at autozone is now $88.
You need to get a special harmonic balancer pulley. You can rent them from AutoZone for $70 (you get it back when you return it)...a normal harmonic balancer pulley WILL NOT work. Chrysler vehicles have their own pulley. It's a fairly simple procedure once you have the right pulley.
To remove the harmonic balancer from a Nissan Maxima, first you need to removed the center bolt. After that, you can use a puller to remove the harmonic balancer. Before you do this, make sure you disconnect the battery and remove the drive belts.

On most newer cars, the crank pulley is one piece with the harmonic balancer.... Remove it with a harmonic balancer puller.
The harmonic balancer tool is made especially to remove the balancer. Some stores will loan you the tool with a deposit.

Go to Autozone and tell them u need a harmonic balancer puller
Remove upper core support, remove radiator, remove belts, using a hormonic balancer puller(specific for chrysler) remove balancer.
The flywheel has to be held in place by a holding tool, Remove the mounting bolt, then use a balancer remover to pull the harmonic balancer.
The crankshaft pulley unbolts from the harmonic balancer. The harmonic balancer can be removed from the crankshaft with a 3 bolt puller.
You need a balancer puller to remove it , It don't just slide off.
take off the serpentine belt and crank pulley and you will need a harmonic balancer pulley to get it off.
