You could try drilling the barrel out, it would probably be best to buy a complete new assembly, you wont get the old barrel out without a key. You will also need new door locks.

As you look at the switch there should be a ring with three notches or groves, this is the nut that holds the switch in. If you are careful, you can use a regular screwdriver in one of the groves and tap it with a hammer to break the nut loose. You should then be able to remove the nut by hand and push the switch through the dash. Reach under the dash and pull the switch down so you can see the wires on the back. I am not 100% sure if it is a single plug or if there are several wires (although I believe it will be several separate wires). If you are putting in a new switch, make sure you have the new, and correct switch for the next step, remove the wires one at a time and reinstall them on the new switch. Once you are done with this, just put the switch back in and you're done. Hayden

First step in removing the ignition switch is to disconnect the battery . Next, remove the key cylinder by inserting a wire, or paper clip into the small hole located about the 2 o'clock position of the key. There is a special tool made for this , but i have used a small hard wire (paper clip) with no problems. Try putting the key in, look at the shiny key cover, and insert the wire into it, pushing in, and then turn the key counter-clockwise, just a bit, and remove the wire, the ignition cylinder should pop out. You can now remove the bezel, and the ignition switch can be removed from the back side of the dash panel. The bezel on the back side has one flat side on it. This piece simply pulls off of the ignition switch. Next, you can remove the wire plug from the switch, by pushing in on the two tabs with a flat tip screwdriver, or a like tool. It will expose the 7 prongs on the ignition switch. I am not a mechanic, but i am very mechanically inclined, and learn alot from trial and error, so far my lessons have been successful. First, remove the retaining nut, which is around the lock cylinder. It requires a special tool that is probably impossible to find now. I would recommend inserting a small flat blade screwdriver in the slots and carefully turning it. After that, push the switch towards the rear of the dash and remove the electrical connector. The connector is held on by two plastic tabs on the back of the switch. If you want to remove the lock cylinder itself, reinsert the key and turn it to the run position. Press down on the small pin in the top of the switch. With a little persuasion, the lock cylinder should come out. Replacement of the switch should be in the reverse order. I know this because I recently had to replace my ignition switch also.
