unhook the battery then the back side of the steering wheel has 2 bolts you take out one on each side then you can slide the bag out then you undo the plug on the back side. to get the passenger one out you need to take the dash out to do it the easy way.there are only a few bolts that hold that in place. 2 bolts are behind the glove box and you need to take out the for screws and the two riv nuts that are right behind the glove box door

∙ 14y agoYou will have to turn the steering wheel vertical and wedge a small flat-head screw driver into the whole on each side. Pull up with screwdriver and the airbag will pop off on each side. Then just remove and you're done.
Remember... don't pull hard because the wiring harness is still connected. Gently pull off and disconnect harness.

Once you remove the airbag and disconnect the harness, as Sonny stated, you will need a torx socket to remove the steering wheel. If I had to guess, it would probably be a T-55 size torx.

∙ 14y agoUnless you are extremely handy with tools, leave it to the dealer or a mechanic. People get seriously hurt trying to remove their airbags more that you would ever imagine.

∙ 14y agoThe air bag light is on because there is a problem with the system and it is not in operation. Until the problem is fixed the light will stay on.
