gently pry it off with a small screwdriver.. also everyone should have a manual for their vechicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the reference section for FREE to make copies of--the PRO manual has more detailed info, and may have wiring diagrams when needed...read up and fix 'em like a PRO...good luck Dave :)
Follow top radiator hose toward engine. remove bolts holding housing to engine. remove housing. remove old thermstat & remember how it was in there. (spring toward engine) remove old gasket from emgine & housing. Now reinstall new gasket & thermstat
Drain the radiator. disconnect the top radiator hose from the engine. Remove the water inlet that the hose was hooked to. The thermostat is in the housing. Replace the gasket when replacing the thermostat.
Remove the shield on the front lower side of the bell housing.
It is at the end of the lower radiator hose on the motor. You will have to empty the radiator and remove the housing to replace it.

Follow your top radiator hose to a housing that has three bolts in it. Once you loosen these bolts you will be able to remove the housing and will see a round metal object, this is your thermostat. Watch wich direction it goes in to assure instalation is right. Good luck with your project.
