How do you remove the gas tank from a 1989 Chevy Camaro RS?

1. Remove the negative battery cable
2. Remove the filler cap from fuel tank
3. Drain all fuel from the tank into a clean container. Since there is no drain plug siphon the fuel out the filler neck or you can siphon fuel out of the return hose (the larger of the two that look alike)
4. Raise the car and support it securely
5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the rear of the catalytic converter
6. Disconnect the rear exhaust pipe hanger and allow the exhaust system to hang over the rear axle
7. Remove the exhaust pipe and muffler heat shields
8. Remove the fuel filler neck shield
9. Remove the rear suspension track bar
10. Remove the rear suspension track bar brace
11. Disconnect the plug containing the pump power and fuel gauge wire (just to save you some trouble double check for power at this connector before taking the tank out) should have power for approx 2 sec after you turn the key to the run position, then shuts off, on again as long as the engine is cranking
12. Disconnect the tank ventilator hose, the fuel vapor hose and the fuel feed (fuel feed has a compression fitting, 5/8 and 13/16 wrench) and return hoses from the sender assembly by loosening the hose clamps and pulling the hoses off
13. Remove the fuel line retaining bracket on the left side then remove the brake line clip from the bracket
14. Position a floor jack under the rear axle assembly and raise it just enough to take the weight off the axle
15. Disconnect the lower ends of the rear shock absorbers
16. If equipped remove the rear stabilizer (sway) bar from the frame
17. Lower the jack under the axle enough to allow removal of the rear coil springs
18. Remove the fuel tank supporting strap bolts
19. Remove the fuel tank by rotating the front of the tank down and sliding the tank to the right
