There is a good description in the Haynes Repair manual it's available at auto part stores for about $15. It is a long and fairly complicated process since the core is buried behind the dash.

I just did this for a 1990 spirit, following the Haynes manual. It had mostly good, but some not-so-good instructions. It is not specific (it is for Spirits and Plymouth Acclaims 1989 through 92). I have novice-to-intermediate skills. I was successful. I will provide detailed notes later when I have time, but if you want my info sooner, email me.

It's possible that your heater core is plugged up. It can also be a bad thermostat.

Drain the water from the cooling system. Remove the water hose from the heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.

Remove the trim work like around the doors... the headliner is mainly held up and on by the trims and also the visers
