For a 6000cd unit with central volume control You need 4x horizontal removal keys (widely available on the web) type Ford removal tool in to any search engine. Each key inserts a certain way and releases the locking mechanism. Pull on the ring part of each key to pull the unit out.
Don't try to use the old coat hanger trick or a screwdriver as you are most likely to damage the unit.

∙ 18y agoYou can remove the radio using special removal pins, these go in the holes at each side of the fascia panel, remember when putting in a new radio to get the Ford DIN to ISO plug as the connections are not standard

∙ 15y ago1. Carefully pry radio dash trim bezel outward, disconnect all harnesses from back of
bezel and remove bezel
2. Remove the (4) 9/32 screws securing the factory radio to the sub-dash
3. Pull radio forward, disconnect all harnesses and antenna lead and remove radio
