Just pulled mine out and cleaned it up as the van would not come out of park even with the brake pedal pressed, and the break lights were not working. To remove get a small flashlight and move the driver's seat all the way to the rear to give you room to move around. looking at the break pedal with the flashlight follow the pedal arm up and you will see a electrical stop switch located about 3 or 4 inches up from the break pedal.
To remove unplug the connected wires from the switch. You will need to push down on the locking lever on the socket to pull the socket from the plug. Once the wiring is removed simply grasp the switch body and rotate counter clock wise about 45 degrees and the switch will pull straight out of the socket. No wrenches required, nothing. Mine rotated with light pressure and pulled straight out. You can purchase a replacement or as I did I disassembled mine and cleaned the contact points and reassembled and it worked fine. Saved me about $100 from a repair bill or about $15 for the new part.
i did what he did and it worked great. only additional thing is that there is a spring when you take apart the switch like on a ballpoint pen. make sure to catch it when you open the switch to clean the contacts.
