Remove tail light housing. Remove lamp. Replace lamp. Replace tail light housing.
Lower the tailgate. Remove the two screws on the inside to the side of the lamp assembly with an torx wrench. The tail lamp assembly will pop out. Remove the four screws on the backside of the tail lamp with a Phillips head screwdriver. You now have access to the bulbs.
Open the Trunk.Remove the small black Phillips head screw connecting the top of the tail lamp assembly.Remove the rear-facing carpet panels behind the tail light assembly, but removing the pop fasteners. Use a fingernail or small flathead screwdriver to lift the center pin, then pull the enter fastner out.Once the carpeting panel is out, use a 10mm socket set to remove the gold/brass nut/bolt hardware. This will allow the tail lamp assembly to be removed, and the bulbs to be accessed.

It is a Pontiac Aztek. Light a match and get some marshmallows.
the tail light is screwed in from the inside of the bed of the truck
Open trunk. With a deep nut driver remove the three nuts that hold the tail lamp in place. Gently pull the tail lamp from its mount. Remove the lamp socket but turning is slightly to the left. Pull old bulb out gently. Us a rag or glove in case the bulb breaks. Insert new bulb into the socket replace the socket into the tail lamp housing and install the tail lamp. Be careful that the screws are aligned through the holes and the tail lamp is properly seated before tightening the nuts.
Open trunk, pull back trunk lining on side to be replaced. Remove three plastic wing nuts, pull tail lamp away from car body, disconnect wiring harness from tail lamp, replace defective bulb.
Hi there, This is really quite simple. You will need to remove the entire tail lamp assembly to do this. open the rear tail gate. locate the 2 10mm nuts (black plastic) on the right side of the left brake lamp assembly, (should also have a slot for a Phillips screw driver). Remove these 2 nuts. Tail lamp assembly is then pressed into a grommet at the rear. You will need to pull straight out towards the rear. (Might be tight) I sometimes use a plastic wedge to help pry off tail lamp assembly. Once tail lamp is out, just depress the 2 plastic clips to release the bulbs from inside the assembly. And replace needed bulbs. (brake light will be the top one) (12v 21w) single filament. Hope this helps.
