I believe the light bulb for the shifter box is part of the whole digital console unit. I don't know if you can access just those two lower light bulbs without removing the whole console unit. Try removing the plastic trim from the steering wheel column and the dash trim and the trim pieces just in front of your knees below the steering wheel. You may also have to disconnect the transmission position lever cable loop. Now see if you can see the little screw-in mounts that hold the bulbs. Good luck.

You can't. There's a circuit board connected to the shifter with LEDs on it. You have to replace the whole shifter. P/N # 52104149AC
The shifter light on the center console of a 1999 Honda Civic can be reached by removing the center console assembly. Loosen all of the proper screws and pull off the assembly. Once the bulb is visible replace the unit using an appropriate sized bulb.
The nylon bushing at the bottom of the shifter is worn out. remove console. put shifter in the neutral position, unbolt shifter from transmission. replace bushing, then reinstall. good luck...
The shifter knob has a slot in the leather about halfway down. In that slot is a u shaped clip. pull it out and lift the knob as an assembly.

you will have to take the console out or at least the top piece of the console and then you will see the shifter is bolted to the floor.
Usually it is located on the shifter inside the console. You have to disassemle the console around the shifter to get to it.
