If you just need to replace the cap (or even the rotor too) it's very easy.
1. Remove the cables for the cap (make sure you mark which one goes where!!!!)
2. Remove the three screws holding on the cap. One is on the under side and there's a hose in the way. Just push down the hose a bit and you'll have access. Don't drop the screw.
3. Pull off the cap.
that's it for the cap. The rotor has a little trick, but still easy.
4. Remove the plastic guard for the electronics inside. There's a single screw holding the rotor to the shaft. You can flex the plastic a bit. (I don't know, but cranking the engine might rotate the rotor so you have access without bending the guard).
5. Once you have access to the screw, remove it. The rotor should come right off.
That's as far as I've gotten. I'm dealing with some sort of ignition problem myself. Thought it might be timing belt, but that's inspected and looks brand new. Replaced plugs. No help. Moving back to distributor now.
