Open hood, look at the back of the assembly and locate the 4 hex bolts that hold the unit in place. Remove the bolts, slide the unit away from the body, and disconnect the wiring harness. You can also access/remove the turn signal unit when the headlight assembly is removed by sliding it forward and disconnecting the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install.
This reply is good for both the 1998 S70 and 1998 V70 with headlight wipers. Note that there is a tab along the bottom edge of a headlight assembly for the wiper blade to rest upon.
No you do not, there are 3 bolts you need to remove in order to take out the headlight. Don't remember off the top of my head where they are located but you should see them. I think they are 12mm bolts.
To replace the headlight on a Volvo V70 you first need to remove the mounting bolts that go through the radiator core support. Remove the assembly with a ratchet and socket. Next, remove the locking collars from the back and remove the old bulb. Replace with new bulb and reverse directions.

It is quite a chore. The various Volvo forums have detailed instructions, the quick answer is you have to pull the front fascia off the car to get to the lens assembly. Once there, there are some clips that hold the lens on.
this web site is awsome

Forget it. I figured it out.
Hello, Could you please tell me how to replace a headlight bulb, on a 2004 Volvo S80 T6. Thank You So Much!! Open the hood. On the back side of the headlight unit is a round cover. Give it a twist an it will come off. unplug the electrical connector from the bulb then release the two spring wire holders on either side of the bulb. Install in reverse order but DO NOT touch the glass part of the new bulb as oil from fingers will shorten the life of the halogen bulb greatly.
Yes they can. The lens are clipped on and have a gasket between the lens and the reflector.
