when you lift up the car the thermostat is located on the right front bottom of the block you'll see a radiator hose by the compressor ,the thermostat goes inside a small housing and it is a little difficult to put back in because the gasket has to place properly
the thermostat is located towards the bottom of the engine you can recognize it by a cable that connects to the front of the middle of the engine and in order to replace it you pretty much have to take the front of the car off
follow the top radiator hose to the engine, remove it then remove the thermostat housing, remove the thermostat and replace it
Should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
The Thermostat is sitting inside the hole where u remove the water pump oddly enough -- it looks like u have to rip half the engine off to remove and replace the sucker - im here looking on how to remove and replace it without tearing the entire engine apart
Where is the thermostat located on a 1996 Toyota Tercel?
The thermostat is located at the engine end of the lower radiator hose (passenger side). If the car has power-steering the power steering pump and mounting bracket have to be removed to get to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is at the end of the bottom hose, in the water pump housing ..not the top.
No, the pump does not have to be removed. Easily replaced in 1 hour. Replace the coolant and flush the cooling system when doing this.
