If you're even slightly mechanically inclined you can do it. First don't go to a dealer. Locate the replacements by searching most any online auto parts seller. The dealer would like to charge you $70 each, but I bought them for $26 each and installed them in 1/2 hour. The only tools you'll need are needle-nose pliers, a socket set and a broom handle (to prop the gate while you're working). Try this site: rockauto dot com Their site is great...simply look up your Jeep, model year, engine size. Then look under "Body-Exterior" and click on the "lift support" folder. Be careful to select the correct lift support and measure the supports length both open and closed. The supports come with installation directions. It's that easy! Answer JC Whitney had them at a good price. They came with instructions. Perfect fit. No measuring necessary. I agree with other answer. Answer I just did this to my '97 grand cherokee. Advanced auto parts had them for $22! Not a bad deal. I would suggest using something a little more sturdy than a broom handle, those tail gates get pretty heavy once the lift arms are removed. Other than that, it's all gravy baby.
It should, the body on the Jeep ZJ 93 - 98 are the same.
This link should help. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f140/how-2005-2009-grand-cherokee-wk-fog-light-install-867728/
The rear hatch is unlocked with the same switches as the other doors. It is then only opened with the outside handle.
doc brown said it was under the flux capasitor
Open the rear hatch. you will see 2 screws on the side of the taillight. Remove them and pull the taillight out.
The only way i found to disarm the alarm was to use the back hatch lock. lock it and unlock it a few times with the key. if this doesnt work try the door locks
most likely it is the high mount rear brake light. Open hatch and you will see where to remove the screw to access the bulb.
Yes. You can swap body parts from any Cherokee (XJ) from 1997 to 2001. Some body parts from earlier years are also compatible.
what are the wires for on the rear hatch door hydraulic pumps
I just want to replace the hatch cover, will the bag deploy when I pry it off?
Put your key into the driverside door and slowly turn it to unlock. I found this is sometimes in the passenger door, and sometimes in the hatch.
I had a 97 and if i remember its either held on with torx screws or you can pop them off by i think pushing down and pulling out. Not completely aware, sorry.
