I own a 2001 Volvo S80. If you damage the head it will cost over $2000 nor non-turbo motor to get repaired. (I highly recommend YOU DON'T replace it yourself!) If you are a skilled mechanic then go for it. One tool you will need is a "cam gear lock tool" this will keep the cam gears from moving and throwing the cam timing out... I personlly got luck when placing a ad on Craigslist.com and finding a local shop in Portland OR that specialize in building high performance Volvos and only charged $45 a hour for labor. Most shops start at $85+ a hour!
Very difficultly. It's horrible. Have to drop the fans from the bottom which is near impossible to not break them trying to it's so tight.
