Remove the oil pan dipstick tube. That requires a 15/16 open end wrench. Next, remove the oil pan carefully/slowly. Remove the filter, clean it with spray carb cleaner as it is a metal screen and can be washed. Put the filter back. Remove all traces of gasket from bottom of transmission. Don't scratch the aluminum. Remove all traces of gasket from pan flange. Using a small ball peen hammer, carefully knock the pan bolt holes in the flange back so the dent faces the bolt head. In other words, so that when the pan is tightened, the flange will push back to straight. Do not use shop towels as they will leave lint. Most dangerous. Do not use sealer. Use the cork gasket and tighten the bolts diagonally opposite from each other. Do not tighten too much but go back over all 2 or 3 times to cause them to set. The gasket should not bulge out around the bolt. Reinstall the drain tube. Fill with Type F atf. It should take a little under 3 quarts.
The transmission fluid dip stick is located beside the Oil dipstick. The oil is the one with the red top.

If you have to ask, have some one else replace the hose. You don't appear to have enough knowledge to do the job yourself.
The transmission is in need of work if the vehicle will not go into drive. It is possible that the transmission fluid level is low, and that is something that can be checked by the owner. If the transmission fluid level is fine, the next step should be a trip to the dealer or a mechanic to have it fixed.
Hi my jaguar 96 xj6 is leaking for few months now, i lost my job and am not prepare for any serious repair, what should I do? Can I stilll drive the car? If I do what would be the consequences? Thank u
It should be Dexron III, but I would use the new Mobil 1, for the extra two bucks you have a full synthetic trans fluid, which unlike motor oil, will be in your transmission for probably 24,000 miles unless of course you choose to change the fluid more regularly.
