Ha Ha! The easiest way would be to check your manual. However if you don't have one you could also do a brake test by stamping hard on your brakes (Obviously when nothings beind you) If the wheels simply lock up then your car doesnt have the privlage of ABS. If you feel a 'rumbly' sensation from your foot brake pedal and the wheels don't lock up under extreme braking then you most proberly have ABS fitted.
Here are a few safer options:1 faulty brake light switch, 2 faulty wiring from switch to taillights. Possible short on trailer jack (if fitted).
Switch loose or faulty? Check if the switch is fitted to the brake pedal. Perhaps the bracket has worked loose.
Usually this a faulty signal light switch. The Signal light switch disconects the brake light on the signaling side and makes it flash.
Possible problems are: faulty or poorly-adjusted brake light switch, faulty turn signal switch, dirty or corroded electrical connection, disconnected or damaged brake light wires or even burned out bulbs.
Is the EML light on? If so, get the codes read. You will probably find that number 1 injector is faulty. This has a sensor fitted in it and is a common fault with the 2.5.
I'm having the same problem. The cause of the nackered battery and dead alternator could be a faulty charge relay. Try replacing this and see if the light goes out..
brake light plunger switch on the brake pedal maybe faulty, remove it and connect the two wires together and pull apart and see if lights go on and off
Usually that would be caused by a faulty brake light switch connected TO the brake pedal. If the brakes work the pedal is probably ok.
When this happened on our 2001 Malibu it was the sensors at the wheels that were faulty and not the brakes. Somehow they had been incorrectly installed after a previous brake check.
I would check switches for faulty sensor on emergency brake...GOOD LUCK
yes. many late model automatics require you to have the brakes on, before shifting into gear..... the auto uses the brake switch to "unlock" the the shifter when the brakes are on... ergo.... switch is faulty, then the auto won't "unlock"
Burned out bulb Faulty socket and/or wiring/ ground Faulty turn signal flasher Faulty turn signal Switch
