You cannot simply turn an EGR valve off. You can clean it, replace it, or remove it, but you cannot turn it off.
Yes, it could.
The EGR valve and the EGR sensor work together. The EGR gas temperature sensor is mounted near the EGR valve. The sensor detects the temperature of the exhaust as it moves through the valve. The information is sent to the ECM and in turn the EGR on/off time is regulated precisely and more efficiently. Any malfunction with the EGR gas temperature sensor will set off a code 35 ( Info taken from HAYNES MANUAL)
its the hose coming off of the valve cover that's the egr valve
The egr valve should be coming off of the exhaust manifold.
Blocking off an EGR valve can make the car run rough. The fuel mileage can suffer as well, since the car is designed to have the EGR valve operable.
If the egr valve is stuck OPEN - the Engine will run Very rough & idle bad - or not idle @ all-if the egr valve is starting 2 stick IT WILL TURN ON THE CHECK engine light-Sometimes U can take the valve off & clean them with a GOOD carb cleaner.
You need to take the air cleaner off. Then disconnect the vacuum hose going to your brake booster at the check valve point. There is a valve (EGRC-BRT) next to the EGR remome the the clamp on the braket that is holding the brake booster hose and swing it out of your way. Next you need to remove the vacuum hose from the EGRC-BRT valve and remove the valve nad the bracket that hold the vave. Now you can get to the EGR pipe which attaches to the EGR. Remove the pipe then remove the the bolts that hold the EGR valve.
EGR is the acronym for exhaust gas recirculation valve. This valve controls the pollutant level given off by the vehicle.
http://www.lcengineering.com this place sells egr block plates for your pickup. They work great I have them on my truck. Off road use only ;-)
If you mean the EGR (exhaust Gas Reclaimer), no.
The EGR Valve on a 2006 Corolla is located on the driver's side of the motor at the very top of the valve cover. Look for a disk shaped valve that kind of looks like a flying saucer. It has two small hoses coming off of it that are connected to the EGR Valve Modulator.
AnswerIt's under the EGR modular. The EGR modular is on the top of the engine on the passangers side close to the fire wall and looks like a black hockey puck. Follow the very short vaccum line off of it to the EGR valve. 2 hoses run to the EGR switch and the bottom 1 runs to the EGR valve.
