on the side of the shifter there is a od button
Take the transmission out of overdrive. I believe there is a button right on the gear shift to do this with.
The taillights on a 1999 Kia Sephia are replaced through the cars trunk. Remove the plastic covers from the light housings and replace the bulbs.
There is a little button on the transmission shift stick, from the driver's side. Just press it, and you will see light in your dash board... And you will get what you want.
Check the wiring to the shift solenoids on the side of the transmission. Stuff can fly up under the car and sever or damage them. That's what was wrong with my Kia.

The speed sensor on a 1999 Kia Sephia is located on the transmission. It is just behind the bell housing for the transmission.
The 1999 Kia Sephia is compatible with Dexron III automatic transmission fluid (ATF). The Sephia can also use Dexron/Mercon and Mercon LV ATF.

Open the trunk and take out the two Phillips screws. The light assembly slides inward and will then come off. Pop the old light out and replace it.
I think there is a button on the gear shift and it was probabley bumped and shut the over drive on your transmission off. I too have had this happen...but it doesnt do it anymore... I had this problem on a 2001 sephia it turned out to be a transmission problem try replacing your vehicle speed sensor in the transmission, that should take care of the problem. My O/D off indicator light was flashing, and I found a part on the fire wall that has a few electrical wires and two vacuum hoses attached to it, one of the connectors for the hoses was broken, when I rigged the hose to stay connected, ( couldn't just buy the part, because I have yet to find anyone that knows what it is) the O/D light quit flashing and my O/D button on my gear shift started working Check the transmission fluid, if you check trouble shooting in the manual that's where you start.
Positive to battery or fuse, light to dimmer switch (if used) Negative to negative on cars ignition coil.
it needs a speed sensor replaced.its on top of the transmission
