If they are in fact plugged with leaves you will have to call someone to force the leaves back to the pool or skimmer. This is sometimes done with a CO2 tank. Sometimes just a "plumbers helper" device that attaches to a garden hose will work. The device is put into the suction side of the Plumbing at the pump and turn on the water. Water pressure will sometimes work if it is strong enough. You are just trying to dislodge the debris just enough to move it. This procedure may take a few times to work.

The distance from the booster pump riser to the outlet in the pool is approximately 25'. This is the line that was clogged. I thought the pump was bad and rebuilt it, to no avail. In retrospect, I should have invested in a cheap pressure guage (less than $ at Lowes) before the rebuild. The pump was making noise and the polaris wouldn't run due to a clogged line. I tried 100psi shop air - didn't work. I then used an old electrical fish tape (a thin ribbon of pretty stiff steel). It worked!! My last resort was going to be a drill operated drain cleaning snake. Good Luck!! R.r.
This can be tricky with several variables involved. How many skimmers? Are they independent lines? Any idea what clogged it? Toy? Acorns? Leaves? Concrete?
You can buy a devise called a Jeanie Jet and it connects to your water hose. Take the lid off your pump and insert it into the front of the pump going back to the skimmer. You then turn on the water and it should blow out the line and unclog it. What comes out of that line will come out into the skimmer so watch for it.
It would be easier to replace with a floating skimmer Check poolrite dragonfly
try a shop vack drain the pond/pool down to the bottom of the front of the skimmer then turn the pump for 25 sec till you see the water drop in the line let it dry a bit then shop vack it
YES!
You really can't. You can put a "skamper ramp" on your pool to help them get out but its hit or miss they'll see it. There is a an ingenious lightweight, net device called Critter Guard that provides a ladder for frogs and other animals to use to climb out of a pool. Visit the Critter Guard Web site at or at Critterguard.net for Purchases and additional information.
you can back wash the pool and drain to proper level Throw a pool party with lots of energetic kids.
Depends how the pool was plummed. If you have a dedicated main drain line, or you share a main drain line and a skimmer line. Both are suction lines to the pump, meaning they will go into the front of the pump. If you have several valves on the front of the pump, and hopefully they are labeled you could try to shut all of them except the main drain and use what is called a drain king. It hooks to a waterhose and swells inside the pipe forcing water in the opposite direction. If you dont have any valves on the front of the pump ,chances are you share suction with the skimmer. check the inside bottom of the skimmer. Main drain may be plummed to skimmer bottom.
Justin Bieber has a inground pool
First of all you cut the concrete 2 paralell cuts from pool edge toward the pool equipment, jack hammer out concrete remove old skimmer and coping , plaster, etc, trench out from skimmer location to exist skimmer/drain line, set new skimmer in place plumbin to old skimmer line pour concrete around base of skimmer to set in place, wrap 1/2" rebar drilled and epoxyed into exist pool gunite, build form around skimmer and rebar, pour form with rapid set mortar, pour final layer of finish concrete, replace coping repair plaster and voila you r done
Let me say first backwashing is a process for simply ridding the filter of dirt, once you backwash the pressure and cleanness of the filter will begin to collect and store more dirt from the pool, Look at the gauge at the filter remember the pressure or write it down as the pressure goes up the flow of water going back to the pool will go down to the point that very little water will go back into the pool. When the pressure is low the water flow from the filter will be high meaning that the filter is not clogged or dirty.
Add thru the skimmer box
If you have water behind your vinyl in ground pool liner, you should first lower the water in the pool to normal levels if it is over-filled. Make sure that the vacuum pipe is clear, unclog it if it is not. Once it is unblocked let the water from behind the liner flow out.
