Crawl under the passenger side of the truck just behind the right front wheel (if you are as thick as me in the middle the truck will need to be raised up, safely please.)
There are two (2) 15mm head bolts holding the starter to the engine block from below.
There are two or more wires attached to the starter, usually 8mm and 15 mm wrenches or sockets needed.
Undo wires
Unbolt and do not drop starter on your head (I have done this, ouch)
The wires may need to be undone with starter hanging loose

Sometimes. There are two common bolt patterns of Chevy starters, and two common flywheel diameters. Many blocks have both bolt patterns. If the starter bolts up to the block and engages the ring gear without binding, it fits.
If both ends of the positive and negative battery cables are clean and tight, the starter may be telling you it is on its way out.
Are you sure you pulled the right relay?

Hook up what? Need more info.
You can hook up the starter, on your 1984 Chevrolet, by attaching the ground cable and the hot cable to the appropriate posts on the starter. Bolt the starter into place.
A great place is ebay.com or your local salvage yard should be able to hook you up!

You should hook up the wires for a tach on a 1985 Chevrolet s10 blazer to the negative side of the coil. You should be sure to identify the positive and negative sides of the coil.Ê
There should be two on the large terminal and one on the small terminal I believe the small terminal is labeled S
i just did a transmission change on a 90 s10 u probably have to drop gravel guard on transmission and starter should have two long bolts remove those and wiggle the starter out then carefully unbolt the two wires on the coil of the starter and be careful s10's usually have the two transmission lines in the way and those are a pain to replace hopes this helps and careful starter is heavy and u will prolly have to jack the vehicle up
