Approximately 12 days. He shot President Lincoln on April 14, 1865, and was found hiding in a Tobacco barn in Port Royal, Virginia, on April 26, 1865, by the Union Calvary. He refused to surrender, and the barn was set on fire. While Booth was still inside the burning barn, Sergent Boston Corbett caught a glimpse of him, and shot Booth in the neck. Booth did not die, right away but he was paralyzed. He was carried over to the porch of the home, which belonged to the farmer who owned the barn, where Booth was hiding. Booth died a few hours later, at approximately 7:15am, April 26, 1865.
