All the countries were ruled by the Nazis except, Hungary, Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy; they had their own governments but had facist ideals so they were allies with Germany. During World War II, Nazi Germany occupied the following European countries (note that some of these were occupied before the War began, and some of them, like Austria and Czechoslovakia, had some or all of their territory annexed to Germany):

  • Austria
  • Czechoslovakia
  • Poland
  • Denmark
  • Norway
  • The Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Luxembourg
  • France
  • Yugoslavia
  • Greece
  • (parts of the) Soviet Union

The following countries had governments that were allied to Nazi Germany, and some of these were also occupied or partly by Germany later in the war after they attempted to leave their alliance:

  • Italy
  • Albania (occupied by Italy for most of the war)
  • Bulgaria
  • Hungary
  • Romania.

This list does not include French or Italian colonies outside of Europe like Libya, Tunisia, and Morocco.
