Engine coolant temperature switch/sensor
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.
on the right side of the engine
Start by replacing the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
Modern vehicles are equipped with multiple temperature sensors. They are used to advise the engine computer and driver on the condition of the vehicle systems. Common automotive temperature sensors include coolant, transmission, ambient air temperature and engine oil.
engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty. engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty. engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty. engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty. engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty.
The engine coolant temperature sensor is usually on the front of the engine. The coolant temperature sensor will be in the vicinity of the thermostat housing.
IAT= intake are temperature sensor ECT= engine coolant temp. sensor
Open the hood and on the drivers side of the engine where the upper coolant hose for the radiator routes to the engine . there is a plastic flange or housing, in that housing the coolnat temp sensor is located .
The computer with input from the engine coolant temperature sensor.
There is NOT a choke on any fuel injected engine. The coolant temperature sensor does the job of what used to be the choke. When the coolant in the engine is cold, the coolant temperature sensor tells the engine control module and it determines how rich or lean to make the engine run. You can use a scanner to see if it and all the other sensors are doing the job they are meant to perform.
The sensor is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, located under the EGR, on the side of the engine between the engine and the battery. Brass sensors can be bought at the dealer.
