There are so many variables in answering this question. A standard v8 engine will have 16 lobes, 1 for each valve while an overhead cam engine will run 2 cams with 8 on each side.
That would depend on how many valves each cylinder has and the location of the camshaft.

Four.
On a 1999 Ford Explorer : It depends on which engine you have : The 4.0 liter Single Over Head Cam , V6 engine has ( 1 camshaft on top of each cylinder head , so there are 2 cams ) The 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine ( which is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine has ( 1 camshaft ) The 5.0 liter , V8 engine has ( 1 camshaft )

A single overhead camshaft V-8 has 2 camshafts, one on each head.
what does each lobe consist of
The camshaft would turn 360 degrees (one revolution).
The right lung contains 4 lobes while the left lung contains 3
I'm not a mechanic / technician but the Ford 3.8 liter V6 engine is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine that has ( 1 camshaft ) so I assume there would only be ( 1 camshaft position sensor )
Each kidney has a renal lobe consisting of a renal pyramid with the renal cortex above it.
