4.5 quarts
I4 takes 3.8 quarts of oil.
in a dry or wet transmission? If you are changing just the filter in a trans that was running, usually 5 quarts. More if it's a deep pan. Check the dipstick after 4 quarts, and a quick shift through the gears while parked. If it's a dry tranny (just rebuilt & installed), you may have 10+ quarts (fills the tranny, pan & dry torque converter) 4 4 if it has a deep pan 4-6 liters
1 gallon = 4 quarts (1 x 4 = 4)3 gallons x 4 minutes = 12 gallons12(gallons) x 4(quarts) = 48(quarts)
Yes so the pump fills the circuits otherwise you get a false full reading.
A 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer fills up with 4.4 quarts of oil. The engine holds a little over five but when draining the oil from the motor half a liter tends to stay inside.

The filler plug is on the rear section of the transmission that the drive shafts bolt on to, it looks alot like the drain plug and is fairly obvious. The tranny itself fills from the dipstick tube.
If its out of warranty take it to Toyota dealership and ask for a "drain and fill" Shouldn't cost much more than about 2x the price of an oil change... This drain and fill process only drains about 40% if the fluid since a large part of it remains in the torque converter. After about 3 drain and fills you have in essence replaced all the transmission fluid. I suggest transmission drain and fills be done every 30,000km at least. USE GENUINE TOYOTA TRANSMISSION FLUID type T-IV only......
if all your changed was the fluid and filter, start with 3 quarts and add as necessary to bring it up to a good level on the stick. If you took out the torque converter and rebuilt the transmission, start with 5 or 6 quarts. Make sure you run it for a few seconds in each gear before you take another reading. The fluid needs to be pumped through Park, and pumped through Reverse and pumped through Neutral and pumped through Drive and 3 and 2 and 1 individually to get an accurate reading on the stick. if You just add it and check it, it will be artificially high on the stick. RUN IT THROUGH THE GEARS, AND DO NOT OVERFILL
