The idling speed cannot be adjusted for fuel injected models. It is done by the ECU depending on inputs from various sensors. If the idling is erratic it is best if the car is taken to the vauxhall dealership who have testing equipment called TECH 2 which diagnoses the problem. goto subaru dealership and have it adjusted by experts.
A bad coolant temperature sensor is one thing that could cause an idling speed problem with a Peugeot 406. There could also be a problem with the idle control valve.
Took it to a car dealership and they found that the spark plug needed to be replaced. It is fine now.
The condenser fan is more likely to run when the car is idling. So if it NEVER comes on when idling you definitely have a problem. If the condenser is not cooled, then your compressor could get overloaded. It may be a problem with a relay that is preventing the fan from running - or some other issue.
Try getting the fuel injectors cleaned. They had to flush mine twice at the dealership. Cost less than $200. Was well worth it.
One of three things: 1) The battery has a dead cell and will not hold a charge - have the battery checked free at a local AutoZone or similar auto parts store. 2) The alternator and/or components is/are faulty and will not provide a charge - have the alternator checked free of charge (same place as above). 3) The belt is loose or worn - if loose, tighten; if worn, replace.
Check the throttle position sensor
I just had this problem and it was idling bad sometimes. when i accelerated it was kind of jumpy. Replace your Mass Airflow Sensor. With a core charge, a cheap one at Oreillys will be 130 bucks but it works. I hope this helps you!!
try checking your cooloing fan. make sure it is running There is no air getting to your radiator as you are not moving! Or there is a problem elsewhere in your cooling system!
it maybe just a timing problem
