A diesel engine is a biodiesel engine.
If you have a diesel engine, you can fill it up with biodiesel anytime.
I am afraid it cannot produce biodisel
It must be heated to vaporize any emulsified water in it, and it must also be separated from the glycerin in it. To do that, a mixture of methanol and costic soda is applied to the heated oil and allowed to settle. the glycerin and separating chemicals sink to the bottom and everything above it is usable biodisel.
Biodisel is obtained from vegetal or animal fats by transformation in fatty acids esters.

With any car, it would be better to buy a new engine. You do not know where the used engine came from and how long it will run. Unless you have a very trusted repair person, a new engine is recommended.
