You can skip some step of the diagram given and just remove the screws holding in the cowling. Then lift the top part up and then pull out and rotate the bottom cowling enough to use a long wire like a coat hanger, width with a 90 degree bend, to depress the detent (as shown in figure 6). Better yet a long thin Allen wrench.
