I'm currently working on the same project for my 89 F250, 7.5/460. I'd like to mention that you will have to loosen (NOT completly) the other cap bolts for each piston. This allows the crank to fall down (about 1/32 of an inch) away from the upper portion of the seal in the block. Now, the hard part is getting those seals out! I haven't figured that out quite yet. I've tried tapping them around-n-out with no luck. A "Sneaky Pete" tool isn't a option for me either since the seal pieces have a metal rod center (not allowing the corkscrew to work on the Sneaky Pete tool) Good luck to you. You have to pull off the oil pab first. I don'tknow what how much room you have but you may need to raise engine some. Once you get the oil pan off, take off the rear amin bearing cap. This would be a good time to see how much wear the crank/bearing has by using plasti-gauge. The cap you pulled off will have 1/2 of the seal in it. The other 1/2 is still around the upper end of the crank. Push it out and around the crank to remove. Take new seal, making sure it is pointed the right way, put it in the upper, put the new bottom on the bearing cap, bolt it back up, torque it and put pan back on. Get you a repair manual, will make things much easier.

Clean it, change ammo, change seals, take it to a gunsmith. Clean and lube all moving parts except keep the gas system dry. Oil on the gas system will gum up very quickly.

Heard of radiator fluid decaying or destroying the seals in an auto engine the mechanic said that old fluid will destroy the seals and then destroy your engine?

Coolant does break down. Depending on how bad it is and what type of engine it's in it can even become acidic. That's usually in a diesel engine though. It is recommended to change the antifreeze every 50,000 or so. It does keep the water pump and other cooling system seals lubed.

Why auto transmission slip when cool but it normal when at normal operating temp?

That is because the seals that are in the transmission are hard when the trans. is cool and as the transmission fluid heats up the seals soften up and expand which stops the fluid from leaking past the seals and the trans, acts normal. IT is time for a rebuild.
