Try taking a sheet of plastic wrap around the edges on the inside suface. Maybe the suction from the leak will grab the sheet?

Or try this: Throw in something of neutral buoyancy and see where it gets sucked to.

Can a vinyl pool be placed on brick and or concrete?

You mean a cover like to close the pool over top of the water or a liner to hold the water. To cover over the water, some companies make vinyl covers, they tend to be more expensive and heavier then woven ones though. As far as a liner, some manufacturers choose not to make Vinyl Liners for concrete pools for different reasons. You'll have to check with a dealer in your area to find a supplier that does, or pursue other repair options.

What is the best way to repair an in ground pool liner after water gets behind it from the pool overflowing from heavy rain causing creases and bubbling?

I havew an inground vinyl liner pool that got water behind it from a leak. The walls started to bulge from all the water behind it. I was afraid I would need to drain the pool to fix the problem. But I was told to just use a shop vac and suck it out. What I ended up using was a submersible sump pump, and a garden hose. I ran the water back into the pool, and it seemed to work. You will need to pop off some of the beading to get the draining equipment of choice behind it. It isn't too dificult, and much cheaper than hiring a pro. BUT BEWARE make sure the equipment is out beofre the vinyl is sucked back to the wall, other wise you will need to find a way to remove it a very tight liner against it. (sound like advice from experience?) good luck!

How do you get a vinyl liner on an in-ground pool to sit back down when it looks like it's trying to escape from the edges and if you use boiling water what is your plan of attack?

Well, the generally accepted method for fixing a creeping liner is to apply heat to the wall area directly below the sag while pulling (as hard as you can) up on the liner until you can jam the bead into the track. The heat softens the vinyl (like how the clothes dryer takes the creases out of a plastic tablecloth) ....soooo .. too much heat will melt it and then you're completely screwed. Heat guns tend to do this. Heat guns = bad Boiled (very hot) water tends to be safer for the liner but more dangerous for the hands that stretch the liner. Boiled is the way to go if you can manage to keep from being scalded. I have poured hot water behind the liner and it worked fine for me. Right before I jammed the last bit of saggy liner back in its track I sort of used my chest and shoulder to squeeze up the last of the hot (now merely warm) water from between the wall and liner and then I secured it in the track temporarily with some spare change from my pocket until I could find better stuff to use as a shim. No doubt there are some super serious pool people out there with PhDs in Pool Science that will say "NONO NO!1 dont do that! you'll die! You'll hurt the vinyl!! but they're the ones that'll charge 500 bones to come and do the repairs. tip: try putting the hot water in something that leaks rather quickly so you can set it on the deck and have it leak hot water on the vinyl while you pull. (use your imagination, I don't know, use some tubing and syphon it down to the work area.

Leaking inground vinyl liner?

First you have to find where the water is leaking. To figure that out, fill your pool to the normal water level and mark the water level on the liner. Wait a day and mark the new water level. Fill it up to the first mark then shut off all your pool equipment and wait the same amount of time. If the level drops the same the leak is in the liner, other wise it's in the plumbing. If it's your liner leaking in some cases you can grab a pair of goggles and get wet to find a hole and use a patch kit from you nearest pool dealer to patch it. Sometimes you can't find it, most pool dealers have equipment to find the leak and they can patch it. If it's in the plumbing, you could be in for a bigger problem. It may involve cutting concrete decking and a bunch of digging. You have to get to the pipe that is leaking and cut that part out and patch a new line in. Again most pool dealers have equipment to easily tell which line and where plumbing is leaking. This can save a lot of work!
