Tachometers generally always attach in the same way, that is there are 4 wires: red = a switched-on ( hot only when car is running)12 volt source, black = suitable good ground, green = trigger ( the negative side of the distributor or coil), yellow or remaining color is for the light bulb in the tach for night time driving. Attach the yellow to a wire that has power when your lights go on such as a instrument wire. I always use a 12 volt circuit tester to probe wires. Under $9.00. ...1930fcoupe

i have a '96 cavalier and all u have to do is stick a screw driver in the panel beside the radio to where u can get your fingers in there and just pull it out. but be careful that u dont break the panel or the clips.

The tensioner bolt for a 96 Cavalier is in the pulley for the tensioner. The tensioner is in the middle of the front of the engine.
