It works similarly to real-life wolf cubs and domesticated dogs' puppies: you need to train your puppies not to wander far from your den. This can be achieved by picking up pups and setting them down near the den you chose before your wolf/your wolf's mate birthed pups to raise the blue bar (training/obedience).
Howling will also 'train' your pups at a quicker rate, completing the missions quickly and easily.
As a side-note, if you unlocked the fourth den (East Creek, unlocked at 25,000 or more experience points- see related links) and chose this area for your densite, it should be made clear that the area itself is heavily laden with bugs and glitches- this site is not recommended!
Bugs that have been reported here include:
- Highest risk of intruding predators.
- Highest risk of intruding stranger wolves.
- Puppies roam far from the den than intended (they are not supposed to roam outside the territory's scent marked borders).
Unless it gets fixed, it's really not advised to choose this den due to the numerous other complications with it regardless of it being relatively closer to the cattle ranch. If you have, start another game and switch to any other den site -- you will not have a high risk of predators/intruding stranger wolves, nor will your puppies stray beyond your territory's borders.

Taking care of your pups is essential in episode two; you can protect them from predators by fighting them off -- during the 'Protect your Pups' mission, bears require you to bite them three times before they'll retreat, coyotes will need to be killed or else chased far from your territory, though it's best to kill them to prevent it from continually returning to pester you and the eagle cannot be killed. You should be wary of stranger wolves who appear in your territory and chase them off immediately. Keeping your territory markers refreshed above 80% reduces the risk of predators accessing your territory. ;)During the 'Grow your Pups' mission, you are required to fatten up your puppies' weight to 15kg each. You'll have to either hunt or scavenge in order to find the necessary food for your pups (the cattle ranch is a quick and easy source if you live nearby!) and grow them quickly.During the final mission to find your summer home, if you still have four puppies, a helpful tip: fill your 'Food for Pups' bar so that your pups will follow you. Carrying a puppy will help, but beware the eagle that threatens your pack during this final stretch of episode two! I'd assume this would be possible if a third episode were to be released, however this will not happen given WolfQuest's current situation regarding funding and discontinuation on Minnesota Zoo's part.After finishing episode 2, you can only start a new game or resume where you left off. There is no turning back after beginning the final mission.Alternatively, if you mean retrieving pups that are killed or taken by the eagle, you can't. These pups are gone forever unless you did not overwrite your save following their deaths.

What do you do on WolfQuest episode 2?
In WolfQuest Survival of the Pack, Your main objective is to raise your pups of the Next generation. You Claim your den, mark your territory, protect your pups against Grizzlys, Cyotes, Stanger wolfs and even eagles, but thats later in the game. Every wolf has a different story to tell when it comes to this. Sometimes all your pups live, somtimes only one or for the unlucky, None and you basicly lose the game. As I said the maid objective is to protect at least One pup. When summer starts to come along you must go to your "summer Home". Remember that eagle? Yeah, there are eagle's that swoop down, grab your pup(s) and eat em'. You have to protect them from these clawed demons. Look up how to chase them off, I just take the targeted pup and chase it off, its a very long waiting game when it comes to this. When you come by rivers if you have a stupid mental mate, DONT let them hold your pups. They will drown them. Happened to two of mine. :'(. The other to the runt and fatty LOL, survived the eagles and grew up. Once you get to the summer home. COMPLETED. have fun, stay clear of rivers and happy protecting your pups. Good Luck! :D
