turn the dash light dimmer up..... its located on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash.
change the bulb out for the brake light and that fixes the problem.

I put the key in the ignition, everything lit up in a normal manner for a split second, then all the lights went out. No power locks, no lights of any kind, no nothing. Any help would be appreciated

Please re-phrase your question; it appears you are saying the brake lights come on when you push the brake pedal and the lights are working (normal operation). If the lights are staying on after you release the pedal, then the problem is with th brake light switch (sticking). Thanks Malcolm
