Haynes repair manual, Dodge Neon 2000 thru 2003. Book #30036
AnswerI'm afraid I can't quite make out what you are trying to ask. Are you wanting to know how to install speaker in a 2000 Dodge Neon? And if so, front speakers or rear speakers? Answerfront speakersANSWER
First read the posts on here (there are a few of them) about how to take off the door panels. (They are very detailed and pointless for me to re-write them) Once you have removed them it is pretty self explanitory, but all you need to do is remove the 4 screws that hold the speaker into the the plastic housing. (Look closely, there are more than four screws, but a couple of them hold the larger plastic housing into the door itself, not the speaker) there is no real reason to remove these, but you also wont hurt anyting if you do. You'll just have to put them back in at the end. Once the screws are removed, take a small flat head screw driver and pry the speaker out the black plastic housing (if it does not come out by hand). Usually the original factory speakers are pretty well stuck in there, but a little pry pops them right out.
Once out, un-plug the connector on the back. If you're putting in after market speakers you will need to cut off the factory plug coming out of the wiring harness in the door. (Its not needed anymore) Your new speakers should have new connectors, you will just need to use butt connectors to join the two open ends of the wires back together. I suggest turning on the radio and testing the speaker before you bolt everything back together, but essentially all you do now is put everything back the way you took it out. (P.S. if for some weird reason you are replacing the old ones with actual factory speakers you don't need to cut the plugs off, just plug them into the new speaker.)
