This problem is due to Malware infections, for more help on how to get rid of it. There are many good and bad programs for removing malware. One free tool is spybot SD.

some of the school browsers have the windows messenger (Internet explorer) but you can download/open it and install it but they would most likely see it and delete it.

It cannot open when you click Internet Explorer. You could be opening an HTML page which could be linking you to the default browser.
