To remove the wiper arm you will need to raise up on the back of the wiper arm there is a plastic shield that covers a nut... remove nut with the appropriate wrench or a adjustable one and gently pry at the bottom until it pops up. once off you will need a new one or good used one, line up and set on the shaft you took that nut off of tighten and place cover back down on and you are done.
if you have a narrow arm at the base it uses a special tool that slips under and then you pry off the arm.. again when replacing you will need to align before pushing it back in place.

Then there are those you have to push out. My mini cooper (2004 S) has the kind you push out. According to the manual for this type you have to 1. Rotate the wiper arm completely out from the windshield. 2. turn the wiper blade as far as it will go to the rear. 3. Press the wiper blade against the limit and thus out of the mounting. 4. Press the new wiper blade into the mounting. Soure: Owner's Manual Mini Cooper/Mini Cooper S.
