If the blower motor is not running on either heat or cool, then the motor may be bad. Also the blower motor has a fuse. Another possibility is a defective blower motor resistor pack. Are you sure the compressor is not working and not just the blower motor? "Wirewilly" Here I repeat Fuses have been checked both under the drver side dash and left side under engine hood. Four prong relays how do you resistance check those? Yes the blower and compressor are not receiving voltage! When i first discovered the problem I thought bad blower motor so i tap on the motor like many no good GM electric recent 12 volt motors too see if it would free up, then took a voltage reading its dead no incoming volts for the blower or the compressor causing it not engage! So it should be a related electronic controling device for both A/C and heater! The best way to check a 4 prong fuse is to just substitute a known good one. I would suspect your blower motor problem is the resistor pack, although the switch itself could also be bad. A bad switch would account for no voltage at the compressor. See if you have voltage going to the resistor pack. If so the pack is bad. Good luck.
compressor contactor is bad. probably stuck in the closed position.
A vehicle air conditioner has two basic components; the compressor, and the fan, or blower. If the compressor is working, the air coming out of the vents will be cold, but if the blower is not working, the air will not come out very fast. Hot wire the blower to the battery, to bypass any fuses or switches, and see if the blower will run. If it does, but will not run when connected normally, check the fuse for the blower. If it is good, you would be wise to take the vehicle to an automotive electrical specialist to have them troubleshoot it.
With an auto air conditioner, the main power consumption is by the compressor. The compressor is driven mechanically by the engine, not the battery. Electrical power is used for controls, and to power the blower fan.
Blown fuse Loss of freon Does compressor run? Does blower motor work?
That should not be required. It sounds to me like something was left unplugged.
No, the compressor only draws out the heat from air. The blower motor either blows warm air or cold air.
fuse #5 on the relay panel on firewall left and above blower motor.
If you are not getting any cool air, the compressor may need recharging or replacing. You will need to call a repairman.
your air conditioner does not have a fan. you have a cooling fan, a blower motor for the passenger compartment, and a compressor clutch. i don't know which one your talking about. but if it is the electric fan for the cooling system behind the radiator then there is either an overheating issues, or a short causing the fan actuate. if it is a blower motor for the air vents. more than likely the blower motor or resistor is going bad. if it is the compressor clutch "fast cycling" then you are low on refrigerant and probably on your way to a really expensive repair. There is no difference. A blower is just a term used for a supercharger. A compressor is any machine that compresses a gas for many different purposes. A supercharger in its many forms is a type of compressor
The compressor working to remove the heat from the air, but the blades could be dirty if the unit is old which throws off the balance of the blades and could cause this.
The blower motor is probably busted, or the blower speed switch could be busted as well, if that isn't it could be a fuse for the blower motor I would check that first and save your self alot of time and money.
