To turn on your iSight camera, open an application that uses a webcam, like "Photo Booth". Your iSight should turn on when an application requires it to do so.
Connect the camera with a USB cable to the USB port on your mac. After a few moments an icon should appear on your desktop or in the volumes folder with the name of your camera's storage disk. If you want to copy the photos to a folder in the finder, simply open the volume and click through the folders to find the photos. You can then drag the ones you want to your hard drive. If you want to import the photos to your iPhoto library, open iPhoto and connect the camera if it is not already connected. Wait a few moments for the camera to mount. You should see the camera in the sidebar in iPhoto. Click on it, and select the option to import the photos.
Try restarting computer then manually go to my computer and see if its connectedMake sure you have the correct cable. (It needs to be the USB cable that came with the camera)Make sure the computer is fully on.Make sure the camera is on- the camera will turn on but it may remain black.

Too many variables to give an answer (which camera, which version of Mac OS/Quicktime, what video format etc.) but you should ensure you are using the latest software available to you from both Apple and the camera's manufacturer. You could try adding the Perian plug-in to Quicktime (See links below) or disabling it if you already have it. If that does not help try viewing the video with the VLC player. what u need to do is play the video and if it pops up with a black screen with sound all u need to do is restart ur video. Mine does dat too and i fixed mine

Very few Vivitar cameras come with Mac OS X support the software is often for Windows computers. Try connecting the camera to the Mac with the USB cable, turn the camera on, and see if iPhoto or the Image Capture application recognises it. If the camera has a removable memory card then the addition of a card reader may help. Specific details of camera and version of Mac OS X would help.
I have a Mac OS X but I know Mac OS is a computer made by the brand/company, Apple.
You cannot without erasing your hard drive and installing Mac OS 9 from scratch. Even then Mac OS 9 may not run on modern Mac hardware because Mac OS 9 needs the ROM chip to boot. Modern Mac OS X hardware uses EFI to boot the system instead of a ROM chip to boot. Mac OS X v10.0 - Mac OS X v10.4 support Mac OS 9 applications and can run them, you just need to install the Mac OS 9 compatibility program which can be found on the Mac OS X Install CD.
The second name of Mac OS X v10.4.5 is Mac OS X v10.4 Intel.Mac OS X 10.4 was known as Mac OS X Tiger.
The Mac's built in camera will be used with any software that requires a camera. With a standard Mac the Applications folder will contain PhotoBooth, iMovie and iChat all of which will use the camera. You can add Apple's free FaceTime to chat with other Mac and/or iPhone users or some of the numerous other software titles (such as iStopMotion and EvoCam) that can also make use the camera. Mac OS X is an operating system released by Apple Inc. It is designed for Apple branded computers, which is why you will never see a Dell, or an HP computer run Mac OS X. There are only two important versions of Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and regular Mac OS X. Mac OS X server was designed for servers, while regular Mac OS X was designed for most computers. The current version of Mac OS X (10.6) is named Snow Leopard.
