All you have to do is bid higher than the other person so if they have placed a bid on 99 cents then you place a bid for $1.25. But if I were you place bids at last minute before auction ends so you will win! Caution: Winning takes some experience. You might not win the first or second time you bid on an auction. Here's another strategy, say the item you are interested in is $9.99, think about how much you are willing to pay for it, okay, we'll say $15.00, put in the amount of $15.00 for your highest bid (proxy bid). Don't put it in until 30 seconds or one minute before auction is due to end. Make sure your clock is correct and use eBay time at the bottom of the page to sinc your clock.

How can you win an auction on eBay?

If you wait until the very last second and enter your bid in, there will be no time left for anyone to put a higher bid up. If you want to win the auction, you can also put a much larger bid than the one before that so that the bidders will give up. Hope this helps!

How many times can you retract a bid on eBay?

You should not retract a bid at all without good reason because bids that you place are binding. The permissible reasons for retraction are: that you are unable to contact the seller, that the seller has materially changed the listing after you bid or that you made a mistake with your bid, in which case you should enter the correct amount immediately after the retraction If you retract without good reason, the seller can report you for invalid bid retraction. Too many retractions can limit your activity on eBay so it is important not to bid until you are sure that you want the item.

Should you only bid on one item at a time on eBay?

You should only bid on an item on eBay if you really want it. If you see two or more similar items that you would like, you should only bid on one at a time and not bid on any of the others until the previous auctions have ended. This is because if you bid on an item and are then outbid by someone else, although common sense dictates that you have lost the item and are free to look for another one, eBay doesn't work like that. They say that if you have placed a bid and are outbid by someone else you should wait until the auction actually finishes before you go and bid on an alternative because if the person who outbid you subsequently retracts their bid, you could still win the item. This is confusing and unfair but it is how eBay works.
