Try the ignition control module. Had the same problem with mine $36 part fixed it.
The ignition control module is in the distributor and so is the pickup coil, but the ignition coil is by the battery. There is a spark test that can be done. If it was already done and couldn't see a spark, then it could be the ignition coil it self , the ignition wire, or any possible electrical connections.
sell the piece of junk!
crank sensor is bad
Replace ignition coil Check distributor cap and rotor
Have you replaced the PCM
Check the BMW for ignition fire. Check the coil pack. Check the distributor or crank sensor depending on the year of the car.

first i would check your coil, if its good, check your ignition switch.

if a motorcycle or atv turns over but won,t start which of the following would be the most probable cause? a. defective charging system rectifier b.defective regulator c.open solenoid coil d.shorted ignition coil
Your ignition coil has probably failed.
It sounds like it might actually be the ignition switch.
