Your heater may or may not be still under warranty. Call the installer/builder to start the warranty process.
If your heater is still under warr. and they determine that the leak is caused by improper chemistry balance your warranty is then terminated or voided. The leak may be a bonified leak thru a defect in assembly. The leak can only be determined or located thru an inspection of the heater. The heater will be disassembled and the heat exchanger will be inspected for damage among other things.
If your pool water chemistry is the determining factor for the leak, you have no recourse. This will be an expensive lesson to you to maintain water chemistry (pH and total alkalinity) in the proper ranges. Alkalinity range below 80 ppm and pH range below 7.0 make the water very aggressive on the acidic side of the scale. k
If the leak is in the copper fins/heat exchanger : replace the exchanger, gaskets etc Not a job for someone who is not familiar with pool heater construction and service. If the leak is at the inlet or outlet you may have to remove those fittings and replace woth new ones.
The heat exchanger is the most expensive part to replace in your heater. The recommended thing to do would be contact a professional and have it installed. Maintaining proper water chemistry is the key to not having to replace it again. I have seen them be ruined in less that a week due to improper balance. Find your owner's manual that came with the heater and they give explicit advice on taking care of your pool heater.
error code led lught for pool heater model # SR333NA
A heater core in a vehicle takes some of the heat from the coolant and runs it through a heat exchanger. The blower in the car that blows hot air into your car runs through that heat exchanger which heats the air that enters your car.
The noise is coming from the heat exchanger located just above the burner tray. One or more of the heat exchanger tubes has become blocked or reduced in size from calcium buildup - - - improper adjustment of your pool's pH which can happen is a short period of time. The knocking is caused by steam or the lack of proper water flow through the exchanger tubes. Someone, and I am not mentioning names has not done their job of maintaining the pool properly. If left alone the exchanger will fail and you will have a great expense of replacing the heater. Another possibility is that the heater by-pass valve is failing. You need a qualified pool tech to advise. He can only assess the problem through a heater visual inspection --- that means disassembling the heater to look at the exchanger tubes. Sorry for your misfortune. k
One major benefit of a heat exchanger is that it quickly transfers heat from one medium to another such as an air conditioning unit or a space heater.
your heater most likely does shut off. this is called the burner orheat exchanger. the fan will continue to run until the exchanger cools down. check you thermostat setting to see if itis on-auto ,-or continous.
The way a heat exchanger work is that you can exchange for a another heater for a leased value. You may have to pay a little bit more which in some places it is better to purchase then to lease.
