I have married a Muslim girl by converting Hindu to Muslim but I don't like to continue as Muslim and would like to be Hindu so what can I do?

Muslim tradition says that a Muslim girl can only marry a Muslim man, and that is why you became a Muslim. However, as a Hindu, you were not bound by Islamic law; only your wife was.

If you revert to Hinduism, you need to consider several things. One is the legal position. If you are in a Western country, your marriage would probably still be valid. In India, there are separate laws for Muslim and mixed marriages. You almost certainly did not marry under the Special Marriages Act, but either under the Muslim Act or had a traditional marriage: you would need to ensure that your marriage is still recognised and, if not, marry under the Special Marriages Act. I am not sure of your position in Pakistan or Indonesia, if you take this course.

You also need to consider your wife's views. If she is deeply religious, it is only fair that you rmember that you undertook to follow her faith. By reverting to Hinduism, you are breaking that contract. If she is not strongly religious, she has the option of becoming a Hindu or simply leaving Islam except perhaps to be a nominal, 'cultural' Muslim.

You also need to consider the social and security issues. Depending on where you live, will you still have friends if you are no longer a Muslim? will your wife be a social pariah? Would you consider moving to somewhere you are not known andstart a new life?
