Are Honda Odyssey dependable?

In my experience, the Odyssey is very dependable. We have a 1999 model that we bought new, it now has 170k miles and is still running strong. My wife drives it every day and is not asking for a new car. The only issue we have is with the automatic sliding doors. We had to get them repaired at one point for $1,600 because our teenage kids were playing with them and broke the mechanism. Also, the contact on the drive side slider does not register that it is fully closed, so we need to keep the interior lights turned off so that they do not turn on while driving when the sensor thinks the door is opening. Mechanically, the car has been awesome with no major repairs needed. The sliding door s a minor issue that we have learned to live with.

2000 Honda Odyssey sliding door won't latch?

Posts elsewhere indicated that this worked on both 2000 and 2001 Honda Odyssey vans. Suggestion #1 1.) Disable the power door switch on the left dashboard. 2.) Remove the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area. 3.) Manually open and close both sliding doors. 4.) Restore the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area. 5.) Enable the power door switch on the left dashboard. 6.) Try opening the sliding doors. Suggestion #2 Remove fuse #13 (clock) for 30 seconds or more from the passenger side fusebox. This will reset the door and the clock. From Purchasepete - Suggestion #2 - has worked for me, on 2 different 2001 Odysseys ! Suggestion #2 Works fine (and is so SIMPLE!) for 2000 Odysseys too. The no.1 solution works for my Odyssey 2000, except for me the number of the fuse was 12 instead of 13... Maybe because i have the Canadian version of the van... Thanks a lot! Lesim14 ____________________________________________________ Addendum from Michael Bates: Using suggestion #2 above and another post, I reset the doors on our 2001 Odyssey EX. Our symptoms were that the sliding door warning light was on, and the right power sliding door would not operate at all -- no movement, no motor sounds, nothing. We had to turn off the power sliding door main switch and operate the doors manually. Here is the procedure I followed: 1. Power Sliding Door main switch OFF and ignition OFF. Doors are shut. 2. Remove fuse #13 from the passenger side fuse panel. Leave out for at least 30 seconds. 3. Reinstall fuse #13. 4. Open both sliding doors manually to the full open position. 5. Ignition switch to ON. 6. Power Sliding Door main switch ON. 7. Press and hold left door CLOSE switch until the door is fully closed. 8. Repeat for the right door. At this point the doors operated correctly, from handle, panel switches, and remote switches.

How are sliding doors measured?

It depends in which country you are in. For example, if you are in the US you would use feet/inches. If you were in, for example, Canada, then you would use meters/centimeters.

What is the best way to child proof a sliding glass door?

Cover it with film so if broken will stay together & put little stickers on it at their eye level so they can clearly see when it is closed.

What makes the sliding door of a 79 Dodge van B200 latch and stay closed?

you pull UP on the handle to latch the door, may have to pull hard. Slamming may latch also but is not the correct way.

Why will the venture power sliding door unlock but not power open or closed?

The locks are probably on a different circut than the sliding door. You might check the fuse box under the dash .I think it is in the number 2 spot to see if the fuse is bad. Check your owners manual. If that doesnt work the motor for the power door could be bad. Good luck!

How do you get the sliding passenger door of your 1994 Chrysler Town and Country unjammed?

These sliding doors are notorious for having sliders that wear out allowing the door to misalign when closing. This misalignment causes the latch at the rear of the door to overshoot the pin that it's supposed to hit and it jams over the top of the pin rather than latching to it. The latch also engages preventing further attemps to close the door as well. First use a screwdriver to unlatch the mechanism by holding the door handle open and prying the latch open again, then instead of sliding the door closed in the usual fashion using the handle, slowly slide the door forward until it is 90% closed and with your hand on the rear of the door (next to the glass and about 1 foot above the latch area) slam the door closed perpendicular to the van by pushing the back of the door toward the middle seats very hard.
