If is no fire to the spark plugs on 1990 gmc 350 could it be the timimg chain?

The way you check the timing chain is take the distributor cap off and see if the rotor is turning when you crank the engine over. it should turn and not set still while you are cranking the engine. You can check the engine compression with a gauge to make sure the timing chain didn't jump time. Even if the chain is out are jumped time 1 of the 8 cylinders will still spark at the plug end.
If I was you I would replace the ingintion module in the distributor if you have no spark at all anywhere. The module is the most common problem when you have no spark.
The coil could be bad too.

Its probably blocking from the gas to get to where its supposed to go. It also could be your spark plugs, or wires from the spark plugs. You could check the spark plugs yourself. If the end of the spark plug is dark, like almost black, you need new spark plugs. If you look at the wire from the spark and its worn out, then replace them.

you are not getting spark. this could be from a bad alternator, bad spark plugs, bad spark plug wires, or bad engine coils. The spark plugs and wires are the cheapest so try putting in new ones of those first.
