I am responding to the answer below given by another user. "Your body will start to eat itself" is true, but I would like to add that your body will first use muscle once your glycogen stores are gone (within a few hours of not eating). It will use muscle before fat because muscle gives the body energy quickly, whereas fat gives your body energy slowly. If you are exercising while not eating, your body needs energy quickly and therefore will burn muscle for energy. Another consequence of not eating is a body-chemistry change. Your metabolism (the rate at which your body burns calories for energy) will slow dramatically in order to preserve energy for as long as possible. This is frequently called "starvation mode". Your body will keep your metabolism as low as possible, and store fat to prevent starvation.
Your body will start to eat itself to provide energy to exercise. And you won't have the energy to safely exercise if you are not eating a balanced diet. Starvation diets are never healthy.
You can start eating again as soon as Ash Wednesday is over, midnight.
once you have no more food left in your stomach, your body will start eating your own muscle.
the best fat burning diet out there is exercise! Replacing that fat with muscle is also good for you. You can also start eating cabbage every day. That will surely help out as well.
Yes, because once you start eating again you'll gain it all back unless you excercise. Plus, you might loose some extra lbs if you excercise while fasting.
Eating a healthy diet, and regular exercise is a good start.
It is important to start with low intensity exercises to avoid muscle strain and injury. As stamina and muscles become adapted to exercise, the exercise routine can be increased.
Whenever you start becoming sedentary. It's less about age and more about exercise. You typically lose about a pound of muscle a year after the age of 40. This of course, as the answerer above noted, be offset by regular resistance exercise.
You will start to loose muscle before you loose fat. All in all it's a bad idea to stop eating and just exercise. It's way better to eat properly to feed your body combined with exercise. That is the healthiest and most permenant way to loose weight.
AnswerStarving yourself is not a healthy way to lose weight. If you do it is most probable that you will gain weight when you start eating again. You are also at risk of blacking out if you don't eat. The best way to lose weight is to eat smaller meals more often and regular exercise.
Don't starve yourself to lose weight. Your body will just gain back all the weight you lost. you see when you starve yourself your body needs something to use for energy AKA calories, so it takes what you have stored, which sounds really attractive but once you start eating normally again your body stores the calories again. so the healthiest way to lose weight is exercise regularly and eat a healthy balanced diet.If your starve yourself to lose weight, then once you start eating. Start with soups and smoothies and gradually introduce light solids. This should help prevent weight gain. Eat a healthy diet, and exercise is always recommended.
the same situation happened to me. either you can eat and then compensate by exercise, or if you have patience (which I DO NOT have :D) then you can slowly go up. 50 or so extra calories a day. You may gain a couple pounds, but as soon as your metabolism speeds back up, you will lose it again. good luck
Just like everyone else. Start eating healthy and exercise.
