blower motor resistor---I'm about to replace mine and have replaced both my sister's Honda crv, and a buddy's Chevy Tahoe they all slowly lost one or more settings (high or low) and then eventually died
Simple wear and tear. After a certain amount of usage, (which varies with each vehicle) the motor simply stops working. Simple wear and tear. After a certain amount of usage, (which varies with each vehicle) the motor simply stops working.
when motor stops, tap on motor and see if restarts. if it does replace motor. there is a bad spot on the armature. if not check the blower resister.
Go to an auto parts store and ask them to link up to the Jeep's computer.
If your fan control speed #1 stops working and then #2 stops working I believe it is the blower motor modual it is sometimes called blower motor resistor block. It is behind the fan motor , up under the passenger side of the dash and against the firewall. If you are looking underneath the dash, you will see a little black box in the position I described. It is being held in by 3 or 4 gold hex screws that are (I believe) .25'. Its not the fan motor control switch ....return that $165.00 part .....the blower motor modual is about $25 if you get it wholesale. These parts are usually not in stock and have to be imported from the Czech Republic, so order early.
The brake lights not coming on could either be a blown fuse or the stoplight switch located on the brake pedal mount could be bad. The blower fan stopping on high but working on the rest is likely the blower motor resistor going bad.
Yes. Hot water comes from the water heater. The blower motor propels warm air around the house through the duct-work, but is not connected to the hot water heater in any way.
Have you checked to see if your 12V dc relay under the hook is working properly?
Blower motor might be good. Check fuse(s) in fuseblock first. Check also the blower speed switch and the blower resistor. A service manual will be indispensable. Auto parts stores sell inexpensive, but usable, versions.
I had the same problem with my 98. My mechanic found a loose wire at the blower motor connection.
Not knowing when the fan motor starts and stops, I would check this-if the blower doesn't run then you hit a bump, pothole, etc. and it runs, its probably the bushings in the motor. The only fix for this is replacing the blower assembly. If the motor isn't manufactured/remanufactured correctly, then the bushings which actually turn the shaft by inducing the electrical field are shot. A simple test is the next time the blower stops, hit the motor with your hand to see if it will start.
If you have no blower speeds at all, first check the fuse. If the fuse is okay I would suspect the blower speed switch and its electrical plug has melted. If the switch checks okay I would suspect the blower motor is bad. If you have high speed only, I would replace the blower motor speed resistor. If you have all lower blower speeds but no high speed, replace the high speed relay.
It stops working.
