basically, industrial revolution brought with it two major needs for the European states where the revolution had taken place; 1. the need for a constant supply of raw materials to power the industries and 2. the need for new markets to sell their produce in. the European powers therefore followed a policy of extensive Imperialism in area such as Africa, East Asia etc and intensified their colonist rule in existing colonies of India, Australia and most of Africa.

Another major impact was that now that the European powers were a formidable economic and military force (revenues from industries were extensively used to improve military), many countries wanted closer ties with them and many, viewing these strong competitors as a threat to their own industries, broke ties off with them.

It was the start of many inventions, which inspired countless modern inventions. But, the industrial revolution was the first major start in pollution because of all of the smoke from factories. Who didn't the US Industrial Revolution help?

The South. The Industrial revolution was kept mainly in the north, and to help "protect" northern industry, a protective tariff was passed and that made foreign imports cost more to purchase, and the South purchased their manufactured goods from England, and in turn england bought cotton from the south. But the war of 1812 stopped that, and flung america into the industrial revolution.
